Lake Paisupok's extraordinary blue color is a result of its unique geological formation. The lake sits in a limestone basin created by ancient geological processes. Limestone (calcium carbonate) reflects light differently than typical rock and sediment, causing the water to appear brilliantly blue even though it's naturally clear and clean.

The lake and its surrounding landscape are part of a karst system — terrain characterized by limestone dissolution, underground caverns, and dramatic surface features.

Unlike many lakes in tropical regions that can be murky or sediment-laden, Lake Paisupok maintains exceptional water clarity. With visibility often exceeding 10 meters in the center, the clear water combined with the limestone reflection creates the intense blue color.
