Beyond the islands, the Banggai mainland is a tangle of primary rainforest, volcanic ridges, and limestone karst. Treks here range from a gentle 25-minute walk to Piala Waterfall to multi-hour ascents of viewpoints with sweeping panoramas of the Banda Sea.

Most trails pass through dense forest with towering hardwoods, ferns, wild orchids, and surprise wildlife — hornbills, macaques, butterflies the size of small birds. The most famous endpoint is Piala Waterfall, where multiple tiers cascade into a clear natural pool perfect for an afternoon swim.
